His Excellency Paul Andrew Gomez has served, effective April 28, 2023, as the High Commissioner of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to the Court of St. James’s and Northern Ireland (UK). He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth. A distinguished diplomat, he previously served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People’s Republic of China, during which he was resident in Beijing.
High Commissioner Gomez is a professionally qualified Chartered Accountant and serves as the Inactive Co-Chairman and Senior Partner at Baker Tilly Bahamas.
In 2025, he received several honors for his contributions to diplomacy and public service. On September 27, 2025, the Caribbean Global Awards Committee in London recognized him as a “Caribbean Diplomatic Champion.” In October 2025, the Charles Gordon Trust in Croydon, UK, presented him with an award for “Excellence in the Field of Diplomacy and Public Service.” During Diplomatic Week in Nassau on October 23, 2025, the Bahamas’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs also awarded him the “Sir Lynden Pindling Foreign Service Medal for Leadership.”
High Commissioner Gomez additionally serves as a COMPASS Champion. COMPASS (Common Pool Asset Structuring System) is an innovative financial governance initiative developed by the Commonwealth and the University of Cambridge to provide climate-financing microloans to youth aged 19–35 across 31 Small Island Developing States (SIDS), empowering the next generation of climate-focused entrepreneurs.
